Pat Oakeshott: Freeman of the Borough of Gravesham

It was with great sadness that we learned recently of the death of Pat Oakeshott.
Pat served the people of Gravesend selflessly for more than 30 years and fully deserved the honour of being declared a Freeman of the Borough.
Originally from Lancashire, Pat soon became a true Gravesendian and worked hard to represent her constituents, with a particular interest in the welfare of older people in the Borough as well as housing and planning.
In her year as Mayor in 2006-2007, Pat led a council delegation to Virginia to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the first settlers to the USA who left Gravesend in 1606, and proved to be a wonderful ambassador for our Borough throughout the celebrations.
We send our condolences to her family.
